Color Speak #3: Shade
Shade refers to a color that has had black added to it. Shading a color increases its depth and often makes it appear more rich and vivid, but in a darker form.
Both the background and the shadows of the stenciled design motifs are shades of Teal Blue.The shadows are simply a darker shade of the background, giving the foliate designs a three dimensional appearance.
