The subject matter of my paintings is extremely nostalgic for me. In my opinion, a tall ship is the most gorgeous mode of transportation. It fills me with a strong feeling of longing to turn the past for all that is lost. I want my work to also show how vulnerable we are in the face of a storm and yet how beautiful this fearsome scary reality is. It represents life itself, dangerous, insecure, vulnerable, threatening and scary but at the same time so beautiful. I paint “extra pretty” to emphasize that subject.
