Heirloom Reboots Series

Heirloom Reboots

This mixed media series reimagines vintage heirloom platters and silver trays as charged canvases, where surface beauty and buried histories collide. Delicate floral patterns are interrupted by jarring imagery, guns, blood splatter, and indigenous Mixtec motifs imposed on traditionally European décor, disrupting the polite veneer of domestic ritual. These works challenge the viewer to confront what is masked and suppressed, questioning why some cultures are celebrated while others are erased. By fusing violence and ornament, reverence and rupture, each piece becomes a provocative offering: What are we serving our communities? Beauty? Memory? Or the unspoken trauma of mass shootings and cultural erasure?
